Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Dupes: 5 Cheaper Alternatives That Work

The verdict

Laneige charges $24 for 20 g, which is $1.20 a gram, or £21 in the UK. Boots sells a 20 g berry lip sleep mask for £4.50 whose pack list carries coconut oil, shea butter and murumuru seed butter, the three fats Laneige leads on. In the US the answer is Tree Hut's 17 g Overnight Lip Mask at $8.99. Every price and weight below was read off a brand or retailer page on 22 August 2026.

Closest matchBoots Berry Lip Sleep Mask

The pack list runs coconut oil, shea butter, murumuru seed butter, raspberry seed oil, sodium hyaluronate and ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, which is the list Laneige's own marketing leads with, in a cheaper pot. Same 20 g, and boots.com states the applicator is included. £4.50 is £0.225 a gram against Laneige's £1.05. UK only, and it sits slightly stickier.

Best budget pickTree Hut Overnight Lip Mask

$8.99 for 0.6 oz at Target on 22 August 2026, in stock, which is $0.53 a gram. The 17 g pot is the closest here to Laneige's 20 g, and it is the only mask on the page you can also buy in the UK, though £12.99 at Boots makes the British case much thinner.

The caveat. Sticker price is the wrong number on this shelf. The e.l.f. mask is the cheapest thing here to buy at $7 and the most expensive per gram of anything on the page at $1.59, above Laneige's own $1.20. A 20 g Laneige pot lasts most people six to twelve months. A 4.4 g pot at under a third of the price is nowhere near a third of the cost.

Key takeaways

  • Boots Berry Lip Sleep Mask is the closest formula. Its pack list carries coconut oil, shea butter, murumuru seed butter, raspberry seed oil, sodium hyaluronate and a vitamin C derivative, in the same 20 g pot, for £4.50 against Laneige's £21.
  • Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask is the best US answer at $8.99 for 17 g, which is $0.53 a gram against Laneige's $1.20, and it was in stock at Target on 22 August 2026.
  • CARE:NEL Berry Lip Night Mask Jumbo copies the pot, the spatula, the scent and the pink cast, but its first three ingredients are polyisobutene, mineral oil and petrolatum.
  • The e.l.f. mask is the cheapest to buy and the worst value to use: $7 to $8 for 4.4 g is $1.59 to $1.82 a gram, above Laneige's $1.20.
  • Prices, weights and stock were read off brand and retailer pages on 22 August 2026. Wet n Wild and COSRX were dropped, one backordered with no published weight, the other only 21 percent cheaper.

How we compared

A dupe here means an overnight lip treatment that behaves like Laneige's: a thick film still on your lips in the morning, in a pot you can get at with a spatula, in a flavour you would want to sleep in. We compared texture, whether it stays put overnight, scent, applicator, weight in grams and price per gram, because sticker price hides most of what matters on this shelf.

Ingredient lists came off the pack copy on brand and retailer pages rather than from earlier articles. Boots prints its full list on the product page, Tree Hut prints its own on the brand page, and the CARE:NEL list was read off the YesStyle listing. Prices, weights and stock were checked on 22 August 2026, and anything we could not confirm at a seller was dropped.

We did not run a side-by-side overnight wear test and we have no measured hydration figures for any of these. Where the evidence is a brand claim or someone else's hands-on write-up, the entry says whose it is.

Closest formula, UK only

Boots Berry Lip Sleep Mask

£4.50 · 20 g (0.70 oz)

Boots publishes the whole ingredient list on the product page, and that is why this sits at the top. Coconut oil and shea butter come in the top nine. Murumuru seed butter and raspberry seed oil sit in the middle, and sodium hyaluronate and ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate follow them. Laneige's own pitch rests on murumuru butter, shea, coconut oil, a berry complex, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. Nothing else on this page overlaps that closely.

The format matches too. Same 20 g, same screw-top pot, and the how-to-use line on boots.com reads "Complete with applicator", so the spatula is in the box rather than a finger in the pot. The tint is a faint pink, the scent is sweet berry, and the film goes on thick and shiny.

£4.50 works out at £0.225 a gram. Laneige's £21 RRP is £1.05 a gram, and even the £16.80 LookFantastic was charging on 22 August 2026 is £0.84. You are paying about a fifth.

Boots sells Vanilla and Jelly Pop versions at the same £4.50 for 20 g, and the Berry holds 4.3 stars from 119 reviews on its own page. UK writers who have used both describe it as slightly stickier on the pillow than Laneige, which matters if that was your complaint in the first place.

What matches

  • Pack list carries coconut oil, shea butter, murumuru seed butter, raspberry seed oil, sodium hyaluronate and ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, six of the things Laneige's own pitch rests on
  • Same 20 g screw-top pot, and boots.com states the applicator is included
  • Sweet berry scent and a faint pink tint, in the manner of the Berry Original
  • £0.225 a gram against Laneige's £1.05 RRP, so roughly a fifth of the cost
  • 4.3 stars from 119 reviews on boots.com, in stock on 22 August 2026

What doesn't

  • UK only. Boots does not ship it to the US and no US retailer carries it
  • UK writers who have used both describe it as slightly stickier on the pillow than Laneige
  • Narrow flavour choice next to Laneige's fourteen: Berry, Vanilla and Jelly Pop on boots.com
  • Polybutene and hydrogenated polyisobutene lead the list, where Laneige leads on butters
  • No published hydration testing and no berry-complex marketing story

Pick it if You are in the UK and want the closest ingredient and format match to Laneige for a fifth of the price per gram.

The catch. It is UK only, and if pillow transfer was your objection to Laneige, this is marginally worse rather than better.

Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask
Best value in the US

Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask

$8.99 / £12.99 · 0.6 oz (17 g) · $14.98/oz

Cheapest per gram of anything we could confirm in stock in the US. $8.99 for 0.6 oz at Target on 22 August 2026 is $0.53 a gram, against $1.20 for Laneige. The pot holds 17 g, close to Laneige's 20 g and two to four times what most drugstore lip masks give you.

The base is shea butter with sunflower, olive and coconut oils and tocopherol, sitting on a diisostearyl malate and polyisobutene structure. Plant oils in the same spirit as Laneige's, though there is no murumuru butter, no hyaluronic acid, no vitamin C and no berry complex. Target lists Strawberry, Vanilla and Golden Vanilla at 0.6 oz, all dessert-shaped, none of them the fruit-candy range Laneige trades on.

The texture is where you pay for it. Tree Hut's film is thick but reads flatter than Laneige's wet-glass shine, and reviewers keep reaching for the word non-sticky. That is a feature if pillow transfer is what put you off, and a loss if you want the layer still sitting there at 7am.

It is also the only mask on this page sold on both sides of the Atlantic. Boots lists the 17 g Strawberry at £12.99, which is £0.76 a gram against Laneige's £1.05. A saving of roughly a quarter, so the UK case is far weaker than the US one.

What matches

  • 17 g pot, close to Laneige's 20 g and far bigger than the 4 to 10 g most drugstore lip masks hold
  • Shea butter with sunflower, olive and coconut oils and tocopherol on the pack list, a plant-oil base in the same spirit as Laneige's
  • Dessert-shaped flavours, with Strawberry, Vanilla and Golden Vanilla listed at Target on 22 August 2026
  • $0.53 a gram at Target against Laneige's $1.20, the widest verified gap on this page
  • Stocked in the US at Target and in the UK at Boots, which nothing else here manages

What doesn't

  • No murumuru butter, no hyaluronic acid, no vitamin C and no berry complex on the pack list
  • Flatter finish than Laneige's wet-glass shine, and reviewers describe it as non-sticky rather than sealing
  • £12.99 for 17 g at Boots is £0.76 a gram against Laneige's £1.05, a saving of only about a quarter
  • Sold out on treehutshea.com when we checked on 22 August 2026
  • No spatula is documented on the pack or the listings

Pick it if You want the lowest cost per gram in the US, a pot big enough to last, and you are happy with a dessert flavour instead of berry.

The catch. The film is less glossy and less tacky than Laneige's, so it does less overnight on badly chapped lips, and UK buyers save only about a quarter.

Evidence: strong (https://www.target.com/p/tree-hut-strawberry-overnight-lip-mask-0-6oz/-/A-92148521, https://www.boots.com/tree-hut-overnight-lip-mask-strawberry-17g-10366005, https://www.treehutshea.com/products/vanilla-overnight-lip-mask).

Closest scent and packaging, import only

CARE:NEL Berry Lip Night Mask Jumbo

$12.75 · 23 g (0.81 oz) · $15.74/oz

Set the two pots side by side and this is the one that makes people look twice. Small screw-top tub, mini spatula, berry scent, faint pink cast, and 23 g of product against Laneige's 20 g. Amazon US had it in stock at $12.75 on 22 August 2026, which is $0.55 a gram. YesStyle was showing the same 23 g Jumbo in stock at EUR 5.34, which would take it under $0.30.

The ingredient list is where the resemblance stops. It opens polyisobutene, mineral oil, petrolatum, then waxes, with the raspberry, strawberry and pomegranate extracts right down at the tail and olive and macadamia oils behind them. No shea, no murumuru, no coconut oil, no hyaluronate. Laneige sells plant butters. This sells occlusion with a fruit label on the front. On badly chapped lips that works. As an ingredient match it is the furthest thing here from the original.

The Summer Study, testing it against Laneige, calls the texture slightly lighter, so the film is thinner than the packaging implies. Some users report a mild tingle.

Buying it is the other catch. No US or UK high street carries it, so the routes are Amazon marketplace, YesStyle or Stylevana, with import shipping and no counter to take it back to.

What matches

  • Same small screw-top pot with a mini spatula, and the same faint pink cast
  • Sweet berry scent, the closest of anything we checked to the Berry Original
  • 23 g against Laneige's 20 g, the only mask here that gives you more product
  • $12.75 on Amazon US is $0.55 a gram against Laneige's $1.20, and YesStyle was showing the same 23 g Jumbo at EUR 5.34
  • In stock at both sellers on 22 August 2026

What doesn't

  • Pack list opens polyisobutene, mineral oil and petrolatum, with no shea, murumuru, coconut oil or hyaluronate anywhere in it
  • The Summer Study, testing it against Laneige, calls the texture slightly lighter, so the film is thinner than the pot implies
  • Import only: Amazon marketplace, YesStyle or Stylevana, with import shipping and no high street returns
  • Price swings from about EUR 5.34 at YesStyle to $12.75 on Amazon depending on the importer
  • Some users report a tingle on application

Pick it if You want Laneige's pot, spatula, scent and pink cast for a fraction of the money and you do not mind waiting on an import.

The catch. The base is mineral oil and petrolatum rather than plant butters, and there is no shop to take it back to if you hate it.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Sleeping Mask
Best fragrance-free option, US only

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Sleeping Mask

$8.99 · 0.35 oz (9.9 g) · $25.69/oz

The reason to buy this one is what is absent from it. The pack list runs petrolatum, polybutene, diisostearyl malate, silica dimethyl silylate, microcrystalline wax, tocopherol and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, with no parfum anywhere in it, and the tube is labelled fragrance and essential oil free. If what put you off Laneige was going to bed smelling of berry candy, this is the only ranked option that takes the smell away.

$8.99 for 0.35 oz at Target on 22 August 2026 is $0.91 a gram against Laneige's $1.20. That is about a quarter off, not a fraction of the price, and it is worth being clear about the difference. It holds 4.6 stars from 843 reviews on that page and was in stock.

What you give up is the texture and the ritual. Despite the Hydro Boost name and the hyaluronic acid on the front of the tube, petrolatum is the first ingredient and the hyaluronic acid sits ninth, so this is sealing with a humectant passenger rather than a rich butter. It goes on clear, out of a squeeze tube, with no spatula, no tint and no flavour. More hygienic than a pot you dip a finger into, and a good deal less fun.

What matches

  • A genuine overnight sleeping mask rather than a day balm sold as one
  • No parfum on the pack list, and the tube is labelled fragrance and essential oil free
  • $0.91 a gram at Target against Laneige's $1.20, so about a quarter cheaper
  • Squeeze tube, so nothing gets dipped into it
  • 4.6 stars from 843 reviews on the Target page, in stock on 22 August 2026

What doesn't

  • Petrolatum first on the pack list with hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid ninth, so sealing rather than the plant-butter base Laneige uses
  • Clear and unflavoured, with no tint, no berry complex and no vitamin C
  • Tube rather than pot, so none of the spatula ritual
  • 9.9 g against Laneige's 20 g, and US only
  • The saving is about a quarter per gram, not the half to two-thirds the cheapest masks here manage

Pick it if Fragrance is your objection to Laneige and you want a cheap, in-stock overnight mask with nothing scented in it.

The catch. It is petrolatum-led rather than a rich butter, so it feels closer to a medicated ointment than to Laneige, and the saving is about a quarter rather than a fraction.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Holy Hydration! Hydrating Lip Mask
Lightest texture, worst value per gram

e.l.f. Cosmetics Holy Hydration! Hydrating Lip Mask

$8.00 · 0.15 oz (4.4 g) · $53.33/oz

Run the numbers before the reviews. $8 on the brand's own site for 4.4 g is $1.82 a gram. $7 at Target is $1.59. Laneige is $1.20. The cheapest thing on this page to put in a basket is the most expensive per gram, by a wide margin.

What the money buys is the opposite texture. Hyaluronic acid, squalane and castor seed oil in a berry-scented balm that e.l.f. describes as non-greasy and non-sticky, which is the honest summary of it. The mask sinks in rather than sitting on top. Nothing prints on a pillowcase, and it wears under lipstick in the daytime, which Laneige only half manages.

The flip side is that it also is not there in the morning. The standing complaint in dupe threads is that it vanishes overnight where Laneige does not, and on badly chapped lips a mask that absorbs is doing a different job from one that seals. The brand directions say to apply with a finger or a spatula, and no spatula comes in the pot.

It rates 4.6 from 824 reviews on the brand site, and both it and the Target listing were in stock on 22 August 2026.

What matches

  • Berry scent and a glossy result, the same flavour direction as the Berry Original
  • Hyaluronic acid, squalane and castor seed oil, sold as a leave-on mask you can sleep in
  • 4.6 stars from 824 reviews on the brand site, in stock at both retailers on 22 August 2026
  • Cheapest single purchase on the page at $7 from Target

What doesn't

  • $1.59 a gram at Target and $1.82 a gram on the brand site, both above Laneige's $1.20
  • 4.4 g against Laneige's 20 g, so a pot runs out in weeks rather than most of a year
  • Absorbs instead of forming a film, so it does less overnight on very chapped lips
  • No spatula in the pot: the brand directions say to use a finger or a spatula
  • One shade and one flavour against Laneige's fourteen

Pick it if The Laneige texture is your problem rather than the price, and you want the berry gloss without waking up with product on the pillow.

The catch. It costs more per gram than the mask it is sold against, and it is largely gone by morning.

Evidence: strong (https://www.elfcosmetics.com/products/holy-hydration-lip-mask, https://www.target.com/p/e-l-f-holy-hydration-lip-mask/-/A-85910971).

Called a dupe, but isn't

COSRX Lip Sleep - Balancium Ceramide Lip Butter Sleeping Mask

The same 20 g pot, fragrance-free, with Ceramide NP and shea butter, and a sound answer if Laneige's scent or the rebound-dryness complaint is your problem. It is $19, which is $0.95 a gram against Laneige's $1.20. A 21 percent saving is not a dupe. It was also backordered on cosrx.com on 22 August 2026, with no reachable retailer to confirm stock elsewhere, so we left it off the ranking on availability rather than on formula.

Wet n Wild Perfect Pout Sleeping Lip Mask

Named in most Laneige round-ups, and it is a real overnight mask at $4.79 with shea butter, murumuru seed butter and sodium hyaluronate on the list. We dropped it because no net weight is published on the brand page, in the site's own product data or at any retailer we could read, so cost per gram cannot be worked out at all. It was backordered on wetnwildbeauty.com on 22 August 2026 and a Target search returns nothing. The scent is lavender, not berry.

Vaseline Lip Therapy and Aquaphor Lip Repair

The most common answer on Reddit, and for overnight sealing alone a fair one. Petrolatum is the same occlusive that leads the Neutrogena tube above, at a fraction of the money. What it does not do is the rest of the job: no fruit extracts, no vitamin C, no humectant layer, no flavour, no gloss. That makes it a replacement strategy rather than a copy.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

Cross-shopped with Laneige constantly, and it does share the shea and murumuru butters. It is $24 for 15 g, which is $1.60 a gram against Laneige's $1.20, so it costs more to use, and it is a daytime balm rather than an overnight mask. Nothing about it is cheaper.

e.l.f. Squeeze Me Lip Balm

Named in the same breath as the Holy Hydration mask above and routinely mistaken for it. The Squeeze Me is a sheer squeeze-tube day balm with hyaluronic acid, thinner on the lip and not sold as an overnight treatment. If you want the e.l.f. product that sleeps, it is the pot, not the tube.

FAQs

What is the best dupe for the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask?

In the UK, Boots Berry Lip Sleep Mask at £4.50 for 20 g. Its pack list carries coconut oil, shea butter, murumuru seed butter, raspberry seed oil, sodium hyaluronate and a vitamin C derivative, the same list Laneige's own marketing leads with, and the applicator is included. In the US, Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask at $8.99 for 17 g, which is $0.53 a gram against Laneige's $1.20.

Is the Boots lip sleep mask the same as Laneige?

No, but it is close. Same 20 g pot, same applicator, same berry scent and pink tint, and murumuru seed butter, shea and coconut oil on the list, the fats Laneige's marketing leads on. The formula is still different: Boots leads on polybutene and hydrogenated polyisobutene, and UK writers who have used both say it sits slightly stickier. At £4.50 against £21, the gap in behaviour is a lot smaller than the gap in price.

Is there a Laneige lip mask dupe at Target?

Two worth buying. Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask is $8.99 for 0.6 oz, the closest on size and on cost per gram. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Sleeping Mask is $8.99 for 0.35 oz and is the fragrance-free pick. Both were in stock on 22 August 2026. The e.l.f. mask is on the same shelf at $7, but 4.4 g makes it dearer per gram than Laneige.

Is Vaseline just as good as the Laneige lip mask?

For overnight sealing alone, close enough that plenty of people switch and stay switched. Petrolatum is the same occlusive that leads the Neutrogena mask on this page. What you give up is the berry complex, the vitamin C, the humectant layer, the flavour and the gloss, so treat it as a replacement rather than a dupe.

Does the e.l.f. lip mask work as well as Laneige overnight?

Overnight, no. The e.l.f. mask absorbs rather than sealing, and the standing complaint in dupe threads is that it has gone by morning. It is the better daytime product of the two and it will not print on a pillowcase. At 4.4 g for $7 to $8 it also works out at $1.59 to $1.82 a gram, more than Laneige's $1.20.

Why is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask so expensive?

It is $24 for 20 g, or $1.20 a gram, and that pot is unusually large for a lip product. Per gram it is dearer than every mask ranked here except the e.l.f. one. The money goes on the berry complex, murumuru butter and vitamin C, fourteen flavours and the name. Boots sells 20 g with murumuru butter, raspberry seed oil and a vitamin C derivative in it for £4.50.

How long does a 20 g Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask last?

Six to twelve months of nightly use for most people, which is exactly why the sticker price misleads. That works out at roughly $2 to $4 a month. A 4.4 g e.l.f. pot used the same way runs out in about six weeks, so its $7 price is not the saving it appears to be.

What is the cheapest lip mask that will not stick to your pillow?

Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask at $8.99, if you are in the US. Reviewers keep describing it as non-sticky, and 17 g lasts. If you want no film at all, the e.l.f. mask at $7 absorbs completely, though it stops working before morning. The Boots mask is the wrong pick for this: UK writers say it is tackier than Laneige, not less.
