Bulldog Sensitive Moisturiser review

I'd buy Bulldog Sensitive before Original if fragrance is something I want to leave out of my skincare. The 100ml tube is inexpensive enough to try without committing to a set, and the formula keeps the focus on moisturising. My reservation is the word “sensitive”. It describes the intended customer; it cannot promise that this particular cream will agree with your skin.

Why I'd choose the blue tube

The useful difference is the absence of added fragrance. Both this and Original contain glycerin and several of the same moisturising ingredients, but Original adds parfum and named fragrance components. Sensitive's list instead includes willowherb extract. That makes the two related options, rather than the same cream with different printing. Compare the Original formula.

I wouldn't choose between them by counting botanical ingredients. I'd decide whether I want fragrance in a product that stays on my face. If the answer is no, Sensitive has already won that comparison. The American Academy of Dermatology also advises choosing mild, fragrance-free products when skin is sensitive. AAD guidance for men.

The willowherb is less important to my recommendation than the fragrance decision and the price. Its presence does not tell us the concentration, or establish that this moisturiser treats a skin condition. There is no reason to pay for the rest of the range just to make this tube work.

03

Where the value is

A 100ml tube is a useful amount for someone who wants one everyday face cream. The current promotion lowers the entry cost further, but £6.60 is the more sensible figure to keep in mind when deciding whether it fits your regular spending. I wouldn't stock up before knowing I liked it.

The unit price helps compare containers, but it won't tell you how many weeks the tube will last. That depends on how much you apply and whether you use it on your neck as well.

Delivery deserves a look before checkout. A low product price can lose its appeal once postage is added. Adding a scrub you never planned to buy to reach a shipping threshold isn't a saving on the cream.

What I'd check during the first few uses

My practical questions would be quite ordinary. Is the amount I need comfortable under my sunscreen? Does it leave a finish I like around my beard line? Is it easy to spread without continuing to rub at freshly shaved skin? Those are reasons to keep or replace a moisturiser, and an ingredient list cannot answer them for you.

I'd keep the cleanser and sunscreen unchanged while trying it. Buying three new products together makes any disappointment harder to trace. A fragrance-free label is a useful filter, but it isn't a reason to continue with a cream that stings or leaves your skin uncomfortable.

Bulldog directs users to apply this after cleansing and before sunscreen. I'd treat the sunscreen as a separate buying decision, with its own protection label and directions. This moisturiser's hydration claim does not provide sun protection.

Who should look elsewhere

Someone who wants one morning product with a stated SPF will need a different product or an additional step. I'd also avoid buying Sensitive merely to solve persistent bumps after shaving. A moisturiser can occupy the moisturising step without addressing why a razor is causing trouble. Our razor-bump guide looks at that distinction.

If you already enjoy Original and your skin gets on with it, there is no automatic need to switch. Removing fragrance is a reasoned preference here, not a claim that everyone must dislike scented skincare. Likewise, an expensive face cream you enjoy is not proved inferior by this tube's price. The question is whether the extra cost buys something you personally want.

My buying call

I'd start with one tube of Sensitive if I wanted a straightforward, fragrance-free moisturiser at this price. I'd spend any remaining budget on getting the cleanser and sunscreen right before adding a second face cream.

For someone comparing only Bulldog's two main options, the Original versus Sensitive comparison makes the choice shorter. Fragrance preference should settle it before the promotional price does.
